Two Homes, One Artwork: The Evolving Story of Shining Rock
There is something powerful about an artwork that moves with you. Not simply because it fills a wall, but because it holds a feeling—adapting to new rooms, new light and new chapters, while remaining familiar.
For the Nobles, that artwork is Shining Rock from Gioia Wall Art. The owners, designers and interior stylists behind both Haven on Nina and Bask on Buderim, they have created two distinct homes connected by a shared appreciation for natural materials, considered details and a strong relationship with the outdoors.
With its soft pastels, earthy greens and layered landscape, Shining Rock has featured in the main living area of both homes, bringing continuity to two very different interior stories.
Haven on Nina: Light, space and simplicity
The first build, Haven on Nina, was designed as a modern farmhouse with a subtle coastal influence. Inspired by New Zealand architecture, its sharp roof pitches, straight lines and timeless forms created a home that felt both contemporary and deeply grounded.
Inside, the main living space was expansive and light-filled, with a tall raked ceiling opening towards a large private backyard and leafy one-acre outlook. The home’s interior palette remained minimal, allowing natural light, scale and the surrounding greenery to take centre stage.
Placed near the entry within the living area, Shining Rock introduced gentle warmth without disturbing that sense of openness. Its valley, mountain and forest forms created depth within the space, while the muted palette brought in colour that felt soft rather than overly styled.
Bask on Buderim: Warm Mediterranean living
Bask on Buderim tells a different story. This second home embraces a modern Mediterranean aesthetic—warm, natural and richly textural, yet still practical for relaxed family life.
At its centre is a courtyard anchored by a 35-year-old olive tree, visible from every room and central to the home’s connection with nature. Ocean views, a pool, a lush backyard and the sound of water from the neighbouring stream create a tranquil, resort-like atmosphere.
The main living area captures this feeling beautifully. A 5.4-metre ceiling void overlooks the backyard and courtyard, bringing scale, greenery and generous natural light into the heart of the home.
Here, Shining Rock takes on a new life. Its earthy greens, warm tones and soft pinks sit naturally alongside stone, timber and tactile finishes. The artwork complements the home’s layered material palette while adding a personal point of colour near the entry.
Art that evolves with you
Both homes use artwork sparingly, allowing stone, texture and sculptural décor to do much of the visual work. This makes the selected pieces feel even more intentional.
The story of Shining Rock is a reminder that the right living room wall art does more than complete a space. It can travel with you, settle into a new home and reveal something different as the architecture and atmosphere around it change.
