Julie Lynch

I'm Julie, an artist with a lifelong passion for drawing, painting, and making. My journey has been a continuous process of learning, drawing from historical and contemporary influences, as well as personal experiences and the world around me.

I draw inspiration from the natural beauty around my home near the Cooks River in the Inner West, which provides a daily dose of creativity through its native flora and wildlife.
My art often incorporates ceramics and textiles, each with its unique story, collected during my travels. These elements infuse my work with deeper meaning, linking memories to the visual narrative on my canvas.

I love working with a limited and unlimited palette, which I find empowers all aspects of creativity. Patterns, whether brushstrokes forming designs or recognizable motifs, add depth and meaning to my pieces.
My art often revolves around a focal point that guides the viewer through intricate details while maintaining a balance between complexity and simplicity. My work tends to feature bold graphic representation of flora and objects with tactile impasto elements.

I also draw from my background as a designer for performance, bringing a unique perspective to my artwork. Working with Opera Australia has taught me how to realize artistic potential within large-scale productions.
With a Doctor of Arts, Master of Arts, and a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts, I've honed my skills through education and experience, receiving multiple awards for my work.
