Peter Taylor Original Artwork
Peter Taylor is an award-winning Australian artist based in the picturesque Northern Beaches of Wollongong, having grown up around Sydney’s iconic Manly. His passion for art began at an early age, filling sketchbooks with beach scenes, surf imagery and cartoons before developing a love for painting Australian landscapes. Inspired by Australian masters Tom Roberts and Arthur Streeton, Peter later studied at the National Art School in East Sydney, where he was encouraged to explore beyond traditional realism and embrace the bold colour and dynamic compositions of artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh and Monet.
After many years working in graphic design, magazine publishing and the printing industry, Peter returned to his first love—painting—in 2021. His current work combines impressionist and modernist abstract influences with the Australian landscapes that have always inspired him. Through vibrant colour, expressive mark-making and layered texture, Peter creates contemporary interpretations of the Australian landscape.
