Susan Trudinger Original Artwork
My work is a deeply personal exploration of the natural world, with the Australian landscape and its vivid birdlife providing an enduring source of inspiration. I am drawn to the interplay of light, colour, atmosphere, texture and form.
My practice encompasses abstract and representational landscapes, still life and paintings of native Australian birds. In my abstract landscapes, I respond intuitively to the landscape, using expressive colour, shape, texture and form to capture its atmosphere, movement and emotional character rather than simply depicting a particular place. My representational work explores the natural world through observation, while still allowing colour and expressive brushwork to play a central role.
Working primarily in acrylics, I aim to create paintings that are vibrant, evocative and uplifting, offering a sense of connection with nature and the visual richness of the world around us.
My work is influenced by Post-Impressionism, photography, and Australian artists including Arthur Boyd and Brett Whiteley.
