The beach environment evokes a sense of escape from the everyday; inhaling salty air, listening to the rhythm of the waves, lying on the sand dreaming of the endless possibilities the future may hold. Created in Charlotte's distinctive hard-edge style, this colourful painting draws on physical elements of coastal landscapes (the sea, cliffs, horizon etc) to form an uplifting composition. This work expresses Charlotte's ongoing fascination with layering and juxtaposing vivid colour, with opposing ideas of transparency and solidity, simplicity and complexity.
